After another English Premier League break when the players went home for international duty to qualify for the World Cup and play in the UEFA Nations League, it is again time for professional club football on the island. With 29 matchdays behind us, each team has 9 more hard games ahead of them in what could still be a surprising season, to say the least. While the title race between Liverpool and Arsenal is all but over considering the +12 point difference at the top of the table, the rest of the important spots are not so clear-cut.
A great thing about this upcoming week is that there are two games to be played for each team in what is a rare double-game week, first on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, and then over the weekend. A lot can change in the spots that lead to UEFA European football competitions next week and plenty of great footballing action awaits us. Join us as we talk about it all, give our predictions, and cover the latest stories in what should be one of the more interesting seven days of EPL football this season. Sports wagering is back as well and the fact is you will need a trusty Premier League betting website to cover all of the action coming our way.
Although Liverpool FC are not yet the official champions and despite still not getting the guard of honor before their remaining matches, all of the league is pretty much waiting for it to happen. They have +12 points at the top of the standings over the second-place Arsenal, as the Gunnars need a miracle and some mathematically minuscule chances to get on top this time around. It is sure looking like a third-straight second-place finish for the red London squad. Liverpool is at 70 points with 4 wins and 1 draw in their last 5 games. They have a +42 goal difference and a marvelous season record of 21 wins, 7 draws, and only a single loss. The soonest they can be crowned champions is in the middle of April, so a few games down the road. Arsenal is at 58 points from their 16 wins, 10 draws, and 3 losses. Their goal differences +29. They have had a good season so far, but not enough to clinch the title.
In the third spot, we find the biggest surprise of the season and a very positive story for the whole EPL. Nottingham Forest, under the guidance of manager Nuno Espirito Santo and following disappointing seasons in 2023 and 2024 when they were 16th and 17th and facing relegation, have done the unthinkable. They have played so well in the 2024/2025 season that they are going to the UEFA Champions League group stage next season, a huge step forward for the team that was in danger of being relegated to the Championship less than a year ago. They have won 16 games so far, drawn 6 and lost 7, and have 54 points with a +14 goal difference. If they continue their streak, they could even overtake Arsenal in the next few games and finish second.
Chelsea is holding onto the final UCL spot, but barely. It could be said they are holding on for dear life with 49 points and +16 in scoring, considering the teams that are right behind them and trying to get over them are hungry and on a roll. Manchester City, in what has been an abysmal season for their standards, are currently fifth, and if the season was to end right now they would miss out on the Champions League. Lucky for them, they have 48 points and a +15 goal difference and are right on the Blues’ doorstep. Newcastle and Brighton each have 47 points and could ruin the plans of both the Blues and the Citizens with only a few good games and perhaps survive for long enough to be in Europe in 2026.
The game week starts on Tuesday, April 1, with the Wolverhampton Wanderers hosting West Ham United. The struggling Wolves are the favorites here according to sportsbooking experts like Sportsbet.io. They are playing at home and get 2.41 odds over the Hammers at 3.10. West Ham is in 16th spot right now and the Wolves are 17th.
It is then onto one of the many London derbies when Arsenal hosts Fulham FC. The home team is the heavy favorite with the odds of 1.46 over the visitors’ odds of 7.80. Fulham has been playing well this season and is currently eight with 45 points. A string of good games could even get them into the Europa League spot and a win versus the second-best team away would propel them forward considerably.
In what is one of the more interesting games of the week, Nottm Forest is hosting Manchester United and are the favorites with 2.28 odds to Utd’s 3.20. The Red Devils have been catastrophic all season, with but a few good spells of avoiding losses like their current one of 1 loss, 2 draws, and 2 wins in their last five. Still, they are the obvious underdogs in this matchup.
On Wednesday, April 2, Bournemouth opens up the schedule against the relegation squad Ipswich Town. The home team favorite has 1.38 odds while the outsider visiting team is stuck at 7.80. Crystal Palace at 1.66 odds will have a similar job to do when they visit Southampton, the worst team in the league with 9 points in 29 games who get 5.20 in this game.
In what could be a very hard-fought battle in the middle of the table, Brighton & Hove Albion (2.04) is welcoming Aston Villa (3.40). The home team has won 4 and drawn 1 in their last five and are seventh, while Villa is ninth but is also playing the FA Cup quarterfinals on April 30 and is in the UEFA CL quarterfinals against PSG, so they are in great shape and form, to say the least.
In a very lopsided affair at the Etihad Stadium in Manchester, City (1.17) is hosting the relegation side in Leicester City (15.00). It should be a target practice and Erling Haaland should increase his tally of 21 goals in an elusive effort to catch up with Mo Salah who leads the league with 27. It is then Newcastle at home with 1.72 odds against the visiting Brentford in what should be a classic low-scoring affair between two tough teams.
The final game of Wednesday takes place in Liverpool when Everton comes to town to face the soon-to-be champions. If the Reds want to finish the season strong and get that trophy in hand as soon as possible, they will need to win here. And they probably will as their odds are 1.39 over the visitors’ 8.30. Look for Salah to either score or assist in this one, perhaps both, and increase both of his league-leading totals on his way to the Best Player of the Season honors. The final game of the matchday is on Thursday, April 3, when Chelsea and Tottenham meet at the Stamford Bridge in London. The Blues are heavily favored with 1.65 odds over the Spurs’ 4.60.
On Saturday and Sunday, some interesting games await us, like the Aston Villa (2.05) VS Nottingham Forest (3.55) duel, Brentford (3.20) VS Chelsea (2.14), and the Manchester Derby where United (3.50) is hosting City (2.06) at the Old Trafford. Liverpool (1.85) is going to London to take on Fulham (4.30) and secure 3 more points while Arsenal (1.73) is playing at Everton (5.40) and will try to remain to close the gap should the Reds fumble and lose some points.
